The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – How to Feed Your Horse

Recommended Videos

So you’ve finally managed to tame and saddle a horse in Breath of the Wild. Now, you’ll get to ride it around the world and summon it whenever you please. However, you have to make sure the horse is well-fed too. By feeding the horse, and occasionally giving it a rub, you’ll raise the horse’s affection level towards you, and it’ll be more effective out in the field.

To feed your horse, simply dismount it and bring up your inventory menu to select the food item you want to feed it with. Have Link hold the item in his hand and walk over to the horse’s mouth. Stand still for a second or so, and the horse will automatically eat the item, making it disappear from Link’s hands. You’ll know it worked when the pink hearts appear from the horse’s head. The horse seems to only eat certain food items; the apple, in particular, seems like a safe food choice. If the horse is full, it won’t eat, and you can put the item back into your inventory.
