How to Get Spirit Orbs & What They Do – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

There are a few collectibles in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but one of the most important are the Spirit Orbs. That is because these work as a sort of currency that allow you to upgrade your health (by granting you more hearts) or your stamina in the game. Both are important, because Link has his biggest adventure yet ahead of him, so here’s how to get Spirit Orbs, and what exactly they do.

The good thing is that the Spirit Orbs aren’t too hard to locate. You’ll have to complete a Shrine though, and each one has its own challenges for you to deal with, so the orbs won’t just be handed over. You can locate Shrines by heading to high areas and scanning the area. They’ll pop up as glowing red marks if you haven’t completed them, and you can set a waypoint immediately. Also, while exploring normally in Breath of the Wild, if you happen to be near a Shrine a small meter by your mini-map will fill up as you get closer.

Once you have some Spirit Orbs in Breath of the Wild, you need to head to a goddess statue. The first one you come across will be in the Temple of Time, but you’ll find smaller ones (that work the same) in other towns as well. Interact with them to decide on whether to trade your Spirit Orbs for stamina or hearts.  That’s all there is to it.
