Now that Eren is learning more about his powers and the fact that he isn’t alone, things are sure to get interesting as the world beyond the walls opens up to a thrilling adventure.

FLCL

FLCL (pronounced Fooly Cooly) is quite possibly the greatest coming of age anime to ever run. It followed Naota Nandaba after he gets whacked in the head with a bass guitar and robots start coming out of the lump. Yup, robots come out of this boys head. What follows is a struggle between the boy, his new friend, and mysterious space agencies, and a cool series that everyone should check out. After over a decade since the first season aired, FLCL will get two more seasons to bring 12 new episodes to patient fans. If you never checked it out before, do so now. Little Witch Academia

not everything has to be about fighting and deep reflections on the task of coming of age. Sometimes you just want comedy and a bit of magic, and that’s where Little Witch Academia comes in with its Luna Nova Magical Academy offering hilarious characters and intense adventures that usually revolve around spells gone wrong and fantasy beasts.

Blue Exorcist

The second season to Blue Exorcist has finally arrived after over two years of waiting from fans curious to see what Rin has been up to. If you haven’t seen the show at all, we suggest starting with this anime’s first season so you can get on the Satan-hating bandwagon as well. There’s a lot of comedy in this series, but it’s action and over-the-top supernatural abilities give it a more serious balance and make it a must watch.

Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball is one of the most famous anime franchises out there. It helped to popularize the genre in the west and there’s no surprise that it’s still going strong. Dragon Ball Super is going on strong and the story is really picking up now that the likes of Gohan are getting serious about the action again. It’s currently ongoing, so you’ll have to play a bit of catch-up with nearly 70 episodes, but trust us, it’s worth it.

My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia follows the Ikuku Midoriya as he tries to become a superhero in a world where superpowers are a normal, everyday thing. Attending the UA High School (where heroes are made), he’ll fight and train to save his friends from those who would use their powers for ill. must-watch anime was never so fun.

Steins;Gate Zero

BanG Dream!

Love music? Love cute characters performing that music? BanG Dream! follows a young girl after she finds a mysterious, star-shaped guitar and decides to become a rock star. It’s more slice of life and school related than other entries on this list, but it’s good to mix it up every once in a while.

elDlive

elDlive is a new anime that recently started that has a young boy who also happens to be a space police officer. How does that happen? We’re not entirely sure, but it has something to do with aliens and a mysterious voice that only he can hear. the top animes of 2017 just got a little weirder.

Gintama

Gintoki Sakata returns along with his friends in this action-packed, hilarious anime that mixes fantasy and sci-fi influences with some sick swordplay. If you’ve been looking for something with some good sword fighting and a few laughs, this is currently running right now.

Assassination Classroom may be over, but you can join the class along with their powerful teacher, Koro Sensei, in this spin-off that has the titular teacher become a kind of demons as the class goes after him fantasy style.

Fantasy and comedy work in perfect harmony in this anime that sees a hapless young woman discover a dragon that has the ability to transform into a maid. Now if only she can figure out how to hide her tail.

Nanbaka

Season 2 of this popular anime continues to follow Juugo, a man capable of breaking out of any prison, as he endeavors to find out who put his mysterious shackles on him all while protecting his friends in the middle of Japan’s strongest prison. To say Nanbaka is weird would be an understatement, but it’s through the unconventional approaches taken that it truly shines and is a must watch in 2017.

Tales of Zestiria the X continues to follow the man who now has the power to removed misfortune from the world after pulling a sword from teh stone. It’s full of magical imagery and tons of action while also navigating a gripping storyline showing a world in a strife and a hero who must save it.

Drifters

Drifters comes to us from the creators of Hellsing, and is full with just as much insane violence and dark humor as you’d expect. Two powerful beings are battling for control of a fantasy world, and they’ll tear apart anyone that stands in their way. If you’re into gratuitous bloodshed, solid writing, and an amazing soundtrack, and dark jokes, then make sure to check this anime out.

Granblue Fantasy

Granblue Fantasy is based on a free-to-play mobile game, but that doesn’t stop it from being an absolutely stunning anime set in a fantasy world full of heroes, heroines, and an evil empire. It’s still in its infancy, but you’ll definitely want to check this one out.

The Seven Deadly Sins

Netflix is proving to be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to anime, and The Seven Deadly Sins is part of the reason why. This exclusive follows the sins as warriors who fight for humanity. They’re still on a quest to reunite all the members of the team, and we can’t wait to see what happens once all that power is in one place.

Ajin: Demi-Human (even though it released in Dec. 2016)

Ajin: Demi-Human’s second season technically came out in 2016, but it was at the tail end of 2016. Thanks to all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it wouldn’t be surprising if you missed out on this dark, horrifying, supernatural series that sees those unfortunate to witness death wield powerful spirits.
