Streaming a no-go.

The Nintendo Switch has been revealed, yet there are many questions still remaining about the console itself. One of those has been what the console can do outside of gaming, and it seems like Nintendo has somewhat of an answer for that question.

In an interview with Kotaku, Nintendo was asked if the Switch will support any streaming sources like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. In a statement they said:

“All of our efforts have gone toward making the Nintendo Switch system an amazing dedicated video game platform, so it will not support any video-streaming services at launch. However, support for video-streaming services is being considered for a future update.”

There was no mention of which services might come to the Switch at a later date, nor was there any mention of if broadcasters for Twitch or YouTube can stream easily from the console. The closest fans can get to sharing their experience with the public is by using the Share button, which will allow them to take a screenshot and edit it. Nintendo also mentioned that they planned on adding the ability to record videos at a later date.

The Nintendo Switch is set to release later this year on March 3.
