destiny the dawning secrets

With Destiny: The Dawning released upon the world, players are rapidly ripping apart every new inch to discover what secrets and hidden items have been added. So far, a variety of exotics, sparrows, quests, and consumables have been discovered by the community, however, there is no doubt that more secrets are out there. Below is a list compiled of every hidden addition, all unlockables, and all secrets discovered so far. Given Bungie’s history of complex puzzles like the Outbreak Prime, though, there may still be more secrets to find. We’ll update this guide should any new secrets or fun activities emerge from Destiny: The Dawning.

S-41 Poison Apple: This Sparrow is unlocked via a quest gifted by Amanda Holliday. However, she will not dole it out until after you rank up once in Sparrow Racing League. At the end of the ensuing Speed Kills questline, you will obtain this exclusive ride.

For a more detailed walkthrough, check here.

Lysander’s Cry: This Sparrow is one of the more subtle The Dawning secrets. To attain it, you will actually need to find a newly added Ghost on the Bannerfall Crucible map. After this, you will be able to return to the Tower and unlock the Sparrow via a hidden package near Amanda Holliday.

Destiny The Dawning: Unlockable Exotics

destiny year 3 icebreaker secrets

While the arrival of these anticipated weapons aren’t secrets themselves, it’s unclear at the start of The Dawning just how to get them. Here’s the scoop on how to get each exotic.

Icebreaker (Year 3): This legendary exotic sniper rifle has made its glorious return to Destiny after a long absence. However, getting this weapon is more about luck and persistence than completing a specific quest or mission. The Icebreaker will actually drop from either the Weekly or Daily Elite Bounties that focus around the new Strike Scoring playlists.

For a full walkthrough, check here.

Nova Mortis (Voidlord): In order to unlock the quest that will grant you the Nova Mortis, you’ll need to reach Level 7 of your new Record Book. After this is done, the quest will be in Xur’s gift at The Tower, and will require players to complete a number of steps for it to unlock.

For a full walkthrough, check here.

Abaddon (Solarlord): If you fancy using a solar version of the Nova Mortis, then you’re going to not only beat the Nova Mortis questline, but a secondary quest tied to the Abaddon. Both quests first require you to unlock Xur’s gift at The Tower, so make sure to not neglect your Record Book.

Destiny The Dawning: New Armor

destiny the dawning secrets

Much like the new exotics, new armor pieces aren’t the most mysterious of The Dawning secrets, but it’s not clear how to unlock each of the new sets. Well, here’s how to do that.

Sparrow Racing League Sets: There are currently two SRL sets available in The Dawning, with one of them tied to ranking up your SRL rank and the other earned at the end of matches. Where these sets differ from normal armor is that most sections can be worn by any class, with the exception of the class items and helms.

Winter Themed Set: By far the most ornate set to release with Destiny: The Dawning, this set of six armor pieces can only be obtained via Treasures of the Lost. Each class has a unique design and they appear tied to this new holiday event, so it’s unknown if they’ll be unavailable after it ends. Obtaining them is entirely based on RNG, so you’ll have to hope your lucky stars align.

Alternative The Dawning Set: Acting as the second set that’s only acquirable via the Treasures of the Dawning, this 5 piece set is far more realistic. While it lacks a class item, these unique armor pieces are once again tied to the new loot boxes and thus based upon luck. However, players have a far higher chance of obtaining these items than the Winter Themed ones.

Strike Scoring Set: Players may never see this set unless they plan to focus on grinding out the new Weekly Strike Bounties offered by Zavala at The Tower. Completing these bounties and turning them in will nab you some new gear to wear around when exploring.

Destiny The Dawning: Secret, Hidden, and Unlockable Items

From the glowing lanterns around the Tower to the stubborn gifts missing Tags, here are all The Dawning secrets involving new items.

Snow Dreg: One of the two new cosmetic consumables added into Destiny, this item functions much of the same way the Sleepless Gaze did from Festival of the Lost. However, these items are far rarer and are only obtainable through the In the Presents of Friends quest or the Treasures of the Dawning loot boxes.

For more details on Snow Dregs, check here.

Felwinter Souvenir: Another new cosmetic item, this engram places a giant snowglobe over your head. Felwinter Souvenirs are obtained in the same ways as the Snow Dreg.

For more details on Felwinter Souvenirs, check here.

Treasures of the Dawning: These are the newest loot boxes to join Destiny and can offer a plethora of items if you obtain them. While all of the armor drops at 3 Light Level, you can infuse all of it if you wish to use it in high-level content. Other rewards include Sparrows, Exotic Ornaments, armor, and consumables.

For more details on Treasures of the Dawning, check here.

Big Gifts: The larger gifts in The Tower require special tags to open, and will lead you to some impressive gifts. Unlocking these will require you level up your Record Book, receiving the needed Tags, and then following any quests begun after opening.

For more details on these large gift boxes and tags, check here.

Lanterns: One of the lesser, yet more amusing secrets hidden in Destiny actually has to do with the laterns floating about The Tower. Players can actually grab one of these and run around with them much like giant ball Guardians can kick around.

For more details about the lanterns, check here.

Xur, Amanda, and Saladin Tags: For those looking to unlock the three big presents located in The Tower you will actually need to acquire tags for the corresponding packages. These are tied to the Record Book you get from Amanda in the hanger and will gift you a variety of rare and exotic items.

For more details about these tags, check here.

Destiny The Dawning: Strikes, Bounties, and Medals

New Strike Medals have now joined Destiny, granting bonus points for impressive feats. The many ways to get various Medals have been secrets until now, so check out how to get each below.

Super Medals: If you want to gain a ton of points while playing Destiny’s new Strike Scoring playlist then you’ll want to rack up super medals. These are tied to specific abilities and kill ratios depending on which sub-class you are running with. In order to get the highest score possible, you’ll want to master super placement and take our a horde of enemies at once.

For more details about Super Medals, check here.

Make a Rainbow Bounty: One of the most difficult new Vanguard Elite Bounties is titled Make a Rainbow, which challenges users to chain together Primary, Secondary, and Heavy streaks. This can be rather challenging if you don’t have a team that’s working together as they can easily disrupt your chain.

For more details and strategies for the Make a Rainbow bounty, check here.

All the other Medals: If you’d like to see the rest of the Medals and how to get them, you can check out the full list here.

While these are all the secrets, hidden items, and unlockable of Destiny: The Dawning so far, there may be more to discover. We’ll continue updating this guide as more The Dawning secrets unfurl. Stay tuned!
