Steve Carell in Talks to Star in the Minecraft Movie Adaptation

The Minecraft movie adaptation is still very much a mystery with regards to how it’s going to look, and what it’s going to be about. However, it looks like the project might be close to casting its first major actor. In a report from Variety, Hollywood actor Steve Carell is currently in talks to join the movie’s ensemble.

We already know that Rob McElhenney, known for his work on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, will be taking on the role of the movie’s director. The movie has also been planned for a release in May 2019, so we’re still a ways off from actually seeing any footage.

Carell is in talks to join the ensemble of the studio’s big-screen adaptation of the popular video game. Rob McElhenney is on board to direct the pic. McElhenney also penned the latest draft with “Wonder Woman” scribe Jason Fuchs.’
