Mafia III
Looking at Mafia III’s open world, you may assume that there is no way you could earn a lot of trophies while playing. Most large games have far too many challenges to make it worth your while, but that just isn’t the case with this one. Most of the trophies are actually fairly easy to nab as they are tied to the story or things that you’ll want to do anyway. There are, however, quite a few missable achievements, and if you want the coveted Platinum, you’ll need to play through at least twice.
Still, with a handy guide, you can make a huge dent in a day, and even collect all 56 shiny rewards during a free weekend, boosting up your level and adding to your ever-growing count. And, on the plus side, the game has a very solid story which you may find yourself enjoying during your hunt. If that’s not a win-win, I don’t know what is.
LEGO Harry Potter Collection
LEGO games are a boon to trophy hunters. While their games are long and full of hundreds of collectibles, they’re never overly difficult and can be completed over the course of a weekend. October saw the release of the LEGO Harry Potter Collection on the PS4, featuring both Years 1-4, and 5-7 on the disc. Each of these games has a relatively simple trophy list that you can run through for a total of 87 trophies (including two platinums).
You’ll have to collect quite a few studs and characters, but at least you’ll have fun doing it. The story is well done, and full of that LEGO humor you’ve come to expect. And you’ll get to relive all the excitement of the books and movies. You probably won’t be able to do both games in one weekend, though, so it’s best to split these up over two weeks.
Titanfall 2
Usually, multiplayer shooters tend to have very difficult trophy lists. They’re full of impossible feats that must be accomplished over other humans, leveling requirements that are out of this world, and the need to unlock every single thing available. For some players, that is nothing short of an arduous task that isn’t worth the payoff. However, Titanfall 2 has the benefit of having a campaign that houses a large chunk of its trophies.
You can obtain most of the rewards in Titanfall 2 in a single playthrough without even really trying. While obtaining the platinum will require a bit more dedication, players of any skill level can at least boost their trophy count by quite a bit and maybe even see their level go up a notch.
Batman: The Telltale Series – Episode 3 “New World Order”
You can always count on Telltale to deliver some easy to earn trophies right to your doorstep. In October they came in the guise of Batman: The Telltale Series’ third episode, New World Order. This episode had you digging even deeper for information on the Children of Arkham while offering up the most difficult decisions Bruce Wayne (both inside and outside of the cowl) has had to face.
Thankfully, no matter what you choose you’ll be able to get every single trophy available. Keep in mind that once you complete all episodes, you’ll net yourself a shiny new platinum.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Special Edition
Yes, Skyrim is one incredibly large game. And yes, there are a ton of side quests and random adventures you can find yourself in. That may come across as intimidating, but the game is actually really easy to platinum. For one, you just have to beat the story which is very straight forward. While there are options in the main story for you to choose between, either one will grant you the trophy so you don’t have to start from the beginning.
The rest is leveling up and doing side quests. The only trophy that may give you some difficulty is where you have to collect all 15 Daedric artifacts since a few are missable. Use a guide and you’ll be fine. I must warn you, though, that it takes a very long time to platinum this game. However, it is very fun to do so and very easy. Plus, since you’ll have all three expansions as well, you have even more trophies you can nab.
Do note, however, that using mods disables trophies. So do that on a separate file.
