Gears of War 4: How to Beat the Speaker and Swarmak Mount

A tough nut to crack.

The Speaker and the Swarmak – Gears of War 4

Recommended Videos

Toward the end of your journey in Gears of War 4, you’ll come face to face with The Speaker. Well… he’s sat on top of a giant Swarmak, so here’s how you take that down first.

Thanks to the weird crystallized shell of the Swarmaks, any kind of weapon you use is unlikely to leave a mark on them, so you’ll have to weaken it first. In your first encounter with a Swarmak (which just happens to be the Speaker’s mount), you’ll find there are a number of power cores that you can use to your advantage. There are four of these placed roughly in each corner of the room. Avoiding the incoming rocket fire from the Swarmak, run to the stairs leading to the walkway above. On each of these, you should find there’s a button behind a protective wall. Press X to activate the button and open the power core’s protective casing. Shoot the glowing core until it explodes, electrocuting the Swarmak in the process.

Now you need to turn your attention to the huge creature. You should see that there are a number of glowing blisters on its body. These are its weakness. Simply shoot at these with your weapon of choice until they explode. If some of them are in a tricky spot to shoot, try moving to a different location where it’s more in your direct line of sight. Once all of them are popped, rinse and repeat the process for the three remaining power cores.

You’ll notice throughout that some Swarm drones will make their way into the fray. Don’t worry too much about these as they won’t bother you when you’re up on the walkways. Focus your attention on the Swarmak and avoiding its fire and if necessary, switch to your Gnasher shotgun to take care of any pesky adds that do get too close for comfort.

As for the Speaker, you don’t have to worry about it. Kait has him more than taken care of.
