Famitsu has the latest character details for NieR: Automata, and there are quite a few surprises in store for us, it would seem. Listed below are the translated character names and details, courtesy of Gematsu:

Emil (voiced by Mai Kadowaki)

The same Emil that joined your party in the original NieR. He harbors latent magical power, but most of his memory is gone due to the long years that have passed.

Pod 042 and Pod 153 (voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto and Kaoru Akiyama)

Support units of the automated infantry squad, YoRHa. They provide long-distance attack and movement support.

YoRHa Infantry Squad General (voiced by Chiaki Kanou)

The person in charge of the YoRHa Infantry Squad and director of the “Bunker”—the base that floats in the satellite orbit. She is level and calm. It seems she has some sort of connection to YoRHa prototype A2.

Operator 60 and Operator 210 (voiced by Keiko Isobe and Mary Hatsumi)

The Bunker’s communications operators. They handle command transmission and information analysis for the YoRHa Infantry Squad. Their personalities differ based on the individual.

Adam (voiced by Daisuke Namikawa)

A silver-haired, young man of beauty whose true character is shrouded in mystery. He has a calm personality, but will take relentless action if it’s for his goal.

Eve (voiced by Tatsuhisa Suzuki)

Adam’s twin sibling. She has a simple personality and doesn’t think about things too in-depth.

Devola and Popola (voiced by Ryoko Shiraishi)

Old-style android at the resistance camp who feel indebted to their model of machines that ran wild long ago. They’ll act as support to 2B and 9S.

Pascal (voiced by Aoi Yuki)

A machine life-form, but a pacifist nevertheless. She’s a highly intelligent machine with an interest in mankind and the the history of machine life-forms.

For those who might not be aware, Emil was actually one of the characters who joined your party in the first game. As for Devola and Popola, well… their roles were a little more interesting than that, though saying anything more would be considered a spoiler for those who haven’t played NiER.

NieR: Automata is set to be released for the PS4 and PC on February 23, 2017 in Japan.
