Following the renewal of the Duffer Brothers’ highly-successful Stranger Things for a second season, a trailer was released teasing what looked like the names of the episodes. Now, the first few details have made their way public by way of TVLine.
Three new characters have been revealed. Joining the regular returning cast will be Max, a 12-14 year old girl described as being “tough and confident”; her “appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era.” It is revealed that Max will ride a skateboard, giving her a definite edge in the cool factor. The first episode in the trailer was entitled Mad Max, and so could well feature as an introduction to her character.
Max’s “very muscular and hyper-confident” Camaro-driving older brother Billy has also been revealed, and sounds as though he will fill an antagonistic role. Along with these two is the “thirtysomething gender-neutral” Roman, a character who sounds perhaps the most intriguing. It is revealed that he experienced a traumatic loss at a very early age, and is now in search of revenge.
Season two will be set in 1984, as revealed in the teaser trailer, which puts it a year ahead of season 1. Fans will be eager to learn the fate of Eleven; so far nothing has been said of this. We will have to wait for 2017 to roll around before we go back to Hawkins.
