Hello Games is working on a patch for No Man’s Sky on both PlayStation 4 and PC that creator Sean Murray says will make some players “very happy” when it arrives.
“Awesome day at Hello Games, we’re going to make some people very happy with a PC and PS4 patch that’s in test right now,” Murray tweeted last night.
What exactly will be included in this patch to make players so happy? That’s a great question. Unfortunately, Murray isn’t saying what the patch will improve and/or fix just yet.
No Man’s Sky launched on PlayStation 4 on August 9 largely without any performance problems, but PC players, who got the space-exploration game on August 12, have suffered no shortage of framerate instability and crashing woes. During the Friday launch Murray attributed most of the problems to the “frankly insane amount of people” playing and users lacking the latest version of Visual C++ or GPU drivers or with PCs below the game’s minimum hardware specifications. Despite attributing much of the problems to users, Hello Games released the game’s first PC patch on launch day.
As Kotaku reports, Hello has also released an “experimental branch” giving PC players early access to game updates before they’re officially released.
Twinfinite has inquired with Hello Games as to whether the incoming happiness-inducing patch contains the updates already available in the experimental branch or entirely new fixes. This story will be updated should the developer issue a response.
