Pokemon GO was released to the wild this week, and one of the many questions we’ve all been wondering is just how do you catch some of those rare Pokemon? A burning desire drives everyone to keep on walking and discovering the next Pokemon around the corner. Well you’re in luck, because we’re going to try and give you all the info we have on catching the fossil Pokemon, Omastar. Make sure you’re always prepared with a stock of Poke Balls, of course.

The Omastar we found was smack dab in the middle of the city in downtown Denver, Colorado. He was right on top of a train station, a commuter railway that goes around the city. Coincidentally there was a Gym at this station as well

Our trainer level was 6 at the time of capture, a little over halfway to 7 (you will find rarer Pokemon at higher levels). You’ll want to make sure you’re keeping your stock of Pokeballs high when you’re on the hunt for rare ‘mon though. The Omastar we caught had 299 CP, and took multiple tries to catch. The ring around Omastar was orange, and we threw eight Poke Balls, finally on the last one getting the ring around the Pokemon as small as possible, with the game giving us a “Nice!” message for it. After that, the powerful ‘mon was all ours.

We’ll make sure to update this page with any more encounters we have. For more help with Pokemon GO take a look at 20 important features the game doesn’t really explain, and also make sure to check out our Ultimate Guide to Pokemon GO for tons of information.
