Announcing the news in a post on the BAFTA website, the academy announced that the event is “part of BAFTA’s renewed commitment to growing its global games membership and celebrating the games industry in the USA”.

Harvey Elliot, Chairman of BAFTA’s Games Committee, congratulated Hennig in the post, stating that “her work in the games industry spans nearly three decades, and throughout this illustrious career she has championed the importance of a game’s script, with this creative vision pervading all her work.”

Hennig left Naughty Dog in 2014 after years of leading the creative efforts for the Uncharted franchise, and has since been recruited at EA as the creative director and lead writer on Visceral Games’ upcoming Star Wars title, which has still yet to be officially revealed.

Hennig is no stranger to the favorable eye of the academy, as Uncharted 2: Among Thieves won four BAFTA awards in 2010 for the Action, Use of Audio, Original Score and Story categories.

The event is set to be held in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 12th.
