As part of the statement on the Sony Computer Entertainment Interactive website, Sony revealed that the new division will be named ForwardWorks and will begin operations as of April 1, 2016.

While no specifics were given about the kind of projects that ForwardWorks will be working on, Sony did reveal that the new division will “leverage the intellectual property of the number PlayStation dedicated software titles and its gaming characters…” Currently, these games are only set to be available to users in Japan and Asia. Perhaps if they’re successful, they’ll make their way over to Western markets but no word on this was given.

According to the statement, “The company will aim to deliver users with opportunity to casually enjoy full-fledged game titles in the new field of the smart device market.”

The statement then goes on to give some information regarding the outline of ForwardWorks, as well as the Directors in Charge and Members of the Board. Andrew House, President of Sony Computer Entertainment is listed as a Member of the Board.
