Last night we reported that The Division’s servers were going offline for a brief period of time. They’re finally back but a number of changes had been made to the Dark Zone and balancing during this downtime.

One of the most notable changes that came as part of the patch was that the “Trained Talent” had been disabled because it could provide an unfair advantage in end-game content and in the Dark Zone. The update notes state that “this Talent will still be visible on weapons but will have no effect until a further update where it will be replaced on existing weapons.” Balancing of experience gain and drop rates for items and currency were also altered as part of the update.

The issue with “Trained Talent” comes when the Talent is applied to a high-end SMG. Doing so allowed players to keep the Signature skill up 100% of the time. Utilizing this in the Dark Zone meant that players would have an unfair advantage against other players as it was significantly boosting critical hit rates.

Speaking today on the matter during a community livestream event, Ubisoft Massive Community Developer, Hamish Bode, said the studio is aware of the concerns that players have with the changes. Things like Dark Zone balancing is “definitely a priority for the development team,” said Bode. He didn’t make any official announcements on what the next step was for Ubisoft on the issue, but the statement was reassuring all the same.
