Ubisoft Won't Continue to Put Out Major Games for Last-Gen Consoles

Out with the old, in with the new.

Ubisoft has officially announced that they will be leaving the older consoles in the dust, as they only will continue to release their major games for the newer-generation consoles.

Other than Just Dance (which will continue to release on the older generation consoles), Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has stated that the company’s main priority is aimed towards games on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

“On Just Dance, we will continue to bring old-gen console versions, but on the other products like Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, The Division, and the unannounced franchise, we will not have old-gen versions,” Guillemot said.

This rash decision on Ubisoft’s part couldn’t hurt too awfully much, as their number of sales for newer generation consoles are higher than the number of sales of older generation consoles. Ubisoft tested this out last year when they released Assassin’s Creed Unity for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, while they only released Assassin’s Creed Rogue for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Ubisoft has also announced that they will reveal their next AAA title at this year’s E3 as well as delaying The Division till 2016.
