Nintendo and Universal Parks and Resorts Team up for the Greatest Entertainment Mashup This Century

Nintendo Land is real!

Ladies and gentlemen – what a brave new world we live in! Within our lifetime (and fortunately, it seems that we won’t have to wait too long either), we will bear witness to the world’s first ever video game inspired amusement park. In an official announcement released by Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts, they announced an exciting partnership to “create spectacular, dedicated experiences based on Nintendo’s wildly popular games, characters and worlds.”

The decision to team up together makes perfect sense. First, video game culture has increasingly broken into mainstream status and in terms of amusement park entertainment – the market is literally untouched. Furthermore, Nintendo has proven time and time again to create iconic, innovative, and family-friendly worlds and stories across generations enjoyed by children and adults alike. Similarly, Universal Parks & Resorts has created a strong reputation in adapting famous IPs (such as Marvel and Harry Potter) into successful parks and attractions.

A glimpse of what is possible!

Together, they pledge to create a truly ‘immersive’ experience, and we cannot be more excited. So far there has been no other information or teasers on what plans or concepts are in the works. However, the sheer potential on Nintendo franchises that can be utilized is staggering – Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Star Fox, F-ZERO, and more. The sky’s the limit on what is possible! As a fun thought experiment, check out this feature written by Ishmael on the seven attractions that a Nintendo theme park can’t be without.

What do think about the announcement about a Nintendo themed amusement park? And more importantly, are you going to show up on opening day?
