In older Star Wars: Battlefront games it was possible for players to battle alongside heroes of the franchise. It turns out this will also be coming to the upcoming third iteration of the series, as confirmed by the Star Wars: Battlefront 3 design director Niklas Fegraeus.
A tweet this morning from Twitter user @MalQy asked the director if there would be the opportunity to fight with only heroes in the soon to be released new title. In response, design director Niklas Fegraeus stated:
You will be able to fight with Heroes and Villains in several modes, and those modes will work very differently. https://t.co/awnsPUqfXm

The information that can be extrapolated from this goes some way to confirm that both heroes and villains will be present in Star Wars: Battlefront 3, along with the fact that they’ll probably be available to anyone who plays.
Exactly which modes they’ll be available in is still up for question, and exactly how these “modes will work very differently” is unknown. The prospect of taking up arms as Darth Vader against the rebel scum in Star Wars: Battlefront 3 sounds fun no matter how you factor it in though.
Hopefully more details will come in the lead up to and during E3. Set aside some time around November 17 though as the game will be released on this date. We’ve even got a collection of delicious screenshots for Star Wars: Battlefront 3 to drool over until then.
