After the reported “years in the making” Ubisoft have official released a statement that Rainbow Six Siege Close Alpha will launch on April 7th and end on April 13th. Ubisoft have strictly stated that the game remains unfinished and will use sessions like this to test their development process and gameplay mechanics utilised.

The press releases states they will be testing for three main aspects:

  • Test the core gameplay loops – Siege has reached the point in development where we need your creativity to test the game and validate the experience we’ve been building. It’s still early enough that a lot can change.
  • Test our server infrastructure – Strong online connection and matchmaking is crucial for operating a game as a service. Testing our infrastructure early will help us optimize your experience at launch.
  • General feedback – We’ve been working on this game for a long time, and having fresh pairs of eyes reviewing the experience helps us figure out any problem areas we might have missed.

Ubisoft warn about potential gamebreaking glitches and bugs that could be evident in the shooter, and that testers were limited. Players were able to apply for their opportunity to test earlier in March, and now the chosen ones will be able to try the game first hand ahead of its official release. In addition, players can check out the official subreddit for any updates regarding Rainbow Six Siege and further details of the games’ content.
