Star Wars Andor – What Is the Eye of Aldhani? Explained

The Eye of Aldhani, according to Lieutenant Gorn, is like “…50 meteor showers all at once, but like a curtain being pulled across the sky until the Eye, the window to the galaxy, forms over the horizon.” This breathtaking event happens every three years and normally brings most of the population to a valley near the Imperial garrison. The Empire relocated Aldhani citizens to urban areas so many are unable to see the Eye from their traditional spot.

The plan is for Andor’s team to use the Eye as a cover for their escape with the payroll records they steal. Luthen threatening to call off the mission if Vel doesn’t accept Andor onto his team in episode 4 makes sense now; since this is the only day every three years they have cover, there’s no chance of rescheduling the mission if anything goes wrong.
