The answer to the question is short and sweet; No, Gotham Knights is not a sequel to Arkham Knight. When the game was revealed in 2020, WB Games Montréal was quick to announce that the game’s story is separate from what Rocksteady created.

Despite the confirmation that both stories would be separate, it’s easy to see where the confusion arises. The end of the Arkham series saw Batman “perish” during the Knightfall Protocol, which was his means of wrapping up his time protecting Gotham. Gotham Knights presented itself with a nearly identical build-up with Batman dying, leading to many thinking Gotham Knights picked up where Arkham Knight left off. However, WB Games stated this game presents its own story as players take on the role of the Bat Family.

That’s all you need to know if Gotham Knights is a sequel to Arkham Knight.
