After the mysterious death of the Caped Crusader, Batman, the Bat Family must step up in his place to protect Gotham City from the multitude of evil-doers. Players assume the role of one out of four characters to complete the said objective. However, this will be one of the first Batman-inspired titles to allow players to protect Gotham with friends, as Gotham Knights will have co-op capability with up to two players. In case you missed it, or if can’t figure out how to enable it, here’s what you need to know on how to play co-op multiplayer in Gotham Knights.
Online Settings for Gotham Knights
Much like many multiplayer/co-op games, Gotham Knights gives you plenty of options to control who you play with, and you’ll want to familiarize yourself with who you can choose to play Gotham Knights with. The list of playable options are:
- Open to All
- Friends
- Friends of Friends
- Invite Only
To access this list, press left on the D-Pad, and you will be shown the above list to choose from Now that you know the options you have to form your squad, let’s focus on how to assemble it in the Social Menu.
How to Access and Make Use of the Social Menu
The Social Menu is your key to further controlling who’s in your game as well as granting you the power to assemble your duo. In order to access the Social Menu, press the Options/Menu and choose “Social”.
In the Social Menu, you’ll have access to a wide variety of categories. If you select “Group”, you can view who’s in your party as well as their in-game stats. “Friends” shows you the status and in-game stats of your friends on your platform of choice. “Recent” shows who you’ve played with, and “Blocked” shows you players you may have banned from playing with you due to mischievous behavior.
In order to invite a friend to your lobby, hover over their name and select Invite Player. This will send a console level notification that your friend can accept to join your lobby or that can work in reverse for you to join their lobby.
Now to close out the guide, let’s tackle how many players you can experience Gotham with.
How Many People Can Play Gotham Knights?
At the moment, WB Games Montréal have stated that co-op in Gotham Knights is two player only.
While the decision is rather disappointing, there is hope that this could be revisited. A recent announcement from WB Montréal has announced the arrival of a 4-player arena mode called “Heroic Assault”. This mode is set to arrive Nov. 29, a little over a month after the launch of the Gotham Knights. Provided this mode receives a decent amount of feedback, perhaps gamers could see the game’s story mode revisited to support 4-player shenanigans.
