V Rising: How to Get Planks

v rising cover

V Rising is quickly emerging as Steam’s latest indie hit, as the vampire-themed MMORPG has been tearing up the Steam charts. The game is centered around PvP and looting (though you can enjoy the game solo if you want to), and also features a crafting and base-building system, which means you’ll need to farm for plenty of materials. With that said, here’s how to get Planks in V Rising.

Planks are one of the very first resources you’ll be tasked with obtaining in the game, and unlike the Animal Hide and Bones you’ve been looting thus far, these aren’t quite as easy to get.

Getting Planks in V Rising

  1. Once you have enough Stones and Blood Essence from killing enemies, place your Castle Heart and start building a base.

Press B to open the build menu, then select the Castle Heart and place it on the ground.

  2. If you haven’t already, start using your axe to chop down any trees you see in your vicinity.

You’ll need a total of 400 Lumber and 80 Stones.

  3. Open the build menu again, and craft the Sawmill to place it anywhere within your base.

  4. Interact with the Castle Heart and input some of the Blood Essence you’ve obtained from killing enemies to power up the base.

  5. Interact with the Sawmill and input Lumber to start generating Planks.

Do note that the Sawmill will stop working if your Castle Heart runs out of Blood Essence, so make sure to check on it and top it up every so often.

What Planks Are Used For

We haven’t unlocked every recipe that requires Planks in V Rising so far, but there are two main uses for them. First, they’re essential for building a Workbench, which will be key to your V Rising experience as you need a Workbench to improve your gear and craft better items.

Secondly, they’re also used for crafting Reinforced Planks, which are unlocked once you beat the level 40 boss, Vincent the Frostbringer. These are then used to improve your base even further as you get deeper into the game.

That’s all you need to know about how to get and use Planks in V Rising. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
