Sorceries and Incantations are huge parts of the game for certain builds when it comes to enchanting weapons, buffing characters, and casting offensive spells. This Incantation is a useful one, especially early on. So, if you’re looking to get your hands on it, we have all the info you need right here. Here’s how to get and use the Bloodflame Blade Incantation in Elden Ring.
How to Get the Bloodflame Blade Incantation
Like most Sorceries and Incantations in the game, this one can be found by killing a Teardrop Scarab before it runs away and disappears. The scarab you’re looking for in this instance is one that’s found on the northwest edge of Rose Church.
The church is found in the west of Limgrave, inside Liurna of the Lakes. It’s directly south of the Raya Lucaria Academy. If you’re unsure of where that is, here’s the exact location on the map:
Simply hit the Teardrop Scarab enough times to kill it before it scampers away from you, and you’ll have the Bloodflame Blade Incantation in your possession to use for the rest of the game.
How to Use the Incantation
Surprisingly, using Incantations isn’t as straightforward as obtaining them. To use Incantations, you’ll need a seal weapon — just like how a staff is necessary for casting Sorceries. 12 Faith and 10 Arcane are also needed to actually cast the Incantation once you have a seal.
The easiest way to get a seal is to buy the Finger Seal from the Twin Maiden Husks merchant in Roundtable Hold for 800 Runes, which is a reasonably low price.
Once you own a seal and the Incantation, be sure to sit at a Site of Grace to memorize the spell, then equip a seal to your left hand and a weapon in your right hand. Then, press L1 on PlayStation, LB on Xbox, or RMB on PC to enchant the right-hand weapon with Bloodflame.
This effect causes the weapon to deal blood loss damage on each hit for a short amount of time, which is a powerful status effect on enemies that can be hurt by blood loss.
