The Pokemon GO Catch Cup has arrived as part of the Pokemon GO Battle League. While some of these cups are more straightforward with their rules and restrictions, the Catch Cup mixes things up a bit, severely limiting the Pokemon you can add to your roster for battle.
What Is the Catch Cup?
The Catch Cup is the latest competition in the Pokemon GO Battle League, but only Pokemon caught between certain dates are allowed to be used by players.
Even then, not every Pokemon caught can be added to your roster, as there’s also a max CP that Pokemon can be to be eligible for the Catch Cup.
Pokemon GO Catch Cup Rules & Restrictions
The Catch Cup rules and restrictions are as follows:
- Only Pokemon caught between March 29, 2022 and April 5, 2022 can be added to your roster.
- Pokemon cannot exceed 1,500 CP to be eligible.
- Mythical Pokemon cannot be used, regardless of their CP or when they’re caught. The complete list of banned Pokemon is:
- Darkrai
- Deoxys
- Genesect
- Hoopa
- Meloetta
- Victini
- Zarude
Tips to Get the Best Team for the Catch Cup
Your best bet is to keep logging into the game whenever you’ve got a bit of spare time and use Incense on your current location to have Pokemon come to you, rather than you having to chase them down around your local area.
We’d also advise using Lures on any Poke Stops nearby to attract more Pokemon for a limited period of time.
When you’ve caught a Pokemon, make sure that you’re then not leveling them up over 1,500 CP with your Candy and Stardust.
Also, keep in mind that you can use Pokemon caught from Field Research Tasks, Raids or that have hatched from Eggs between March 29 and April 5, giving you the opportunity to add some really strong Pokemon to your roster.
