Aloy returns to our screen to take on the machines once again in Horizon Forbidden West. With a red blight killing the wildlife, vicious storms putting the last remnants of humanity at risk, and new, more formidable machines popping up, Aloy must travel into the Tenakth territory known as the Forbidden West to figure out what’s going on. It’s another epic adventure that’s bigger and better in every conceivable way over its predecessor. But just how long does Horizon Forbidden West take to beat? Here’s everything you need to know.
How Long Is Horizon Forbidden West?
Horizon Forbidden West can take anywhere from 28 hours to complete if you simply play through the main story missions and barely touch the open-world activities and side missions, up to 80-90 hours if you’re looking to 100% the game.
In our own playthrough, it took us just shy of 35 hours to finish the main story. This included us playing through a fair amount of the side content, and exploring the world. We did still have plenty of content to sink our teeth into after this, with more side missions popping up at settlements on a regular basis, and a large number of collectibles tucked away that needed to be found.
There’s also a number of Arena and Hunting Ground challenges, as well as the Machine Strike board game that has its own various boards and provides a nice, laidback distraction from the machine-slaying, world-saving action that Aloy tends to find herself embroiled in.
How Many Main Missions Are There?
Horizon Forbidden West has a grand total of 17 main missions. These vary in length, however, so don’t let that number fool you.
We’ve not listed the mission names here to help you avoid any potential spoilers.
