The enemies in Elden Ring have one thing on their mind, and it’s to completely obliterate you whenever you’re in sight. Simply put, you’re going to see ‘You Died’ appear a lot on your ventures across the Lands Between, but you can always heal and increase your max health in Elden Ring to make this a slightly less frequent occurrence.
Here, we’ll be explaining everything you need to know to ensure you can tank more hits before seeing those two blood-red words spill across your screen all over again.
How to Heal in Elden Ring
You can heal your health by using Sacred Flasks when exploring or in combat, or by resting at a Site of Grace, which are found fairly frequently across the map. Keep in mind that resting at a Site of Grace will also respawn most defeated enemies.
Using Flask of Crimson Tears to Heal in Elden Ring
- Equip your Flask of Crimson Tears from your Inventory.
To do this, press the Options/Menu button and go to Inventory. Select a Quickslot and press X/A to confirm. Now, select your Flask of Crimson Tears to equip them to an Inventory slot.
- Use Down on the D-Pad to cycle through your items equipped to Inventory slots.
Select the Flask of Crimson Tears here.
- Press Square/X when your Flask of Crimson Tears are equipped to use one and heal your health.
This can be done at any time when you’re exploring the open world or in combat.
Keep in mind that you’ll only have a set amount of Sacred Flask charges each time you replenish them at a Site of Grace. You can increase your Sacred Flask charges with Golden Seeds, which can be found throughout the open world.
These are then used at a Site of Grace by accessing the ‘Flasks’ menu and then choosing to ‘Add Charge.’ This will consume a Golden Seed.
Increasing Max Health
To increase your max health in Elden Ring, you need to increase your ‘Vigor’ stat which can be done each time you level up.
The more you level up your Vigor stat, the more health you have. Combine this with increasing your Sacred Flask charges, and you can make Elden Ring’s tough boss battles that little bit easier. Don’t forget to keep upgrading your weapons, too.
Crimson Amber Medallion Keepsake
Players can also choose to pick up the Crimson Amber Medallion as their Keepsake at the start of the game.
This provides a permanent increase to their max health from the beginning of the game, though we’d advise grabbing the Golden Seed instead, as this will grant you an additional charge to your Sacred Flasks, which you can then assign to another Flask of Crimson Tears charge.
