Developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco, Elden Ring is a brand new action-RPG that features a large open-world and overarching mythos written by George R.R. Martin. There are tons of dungeons to explore, along with plenty of optional bosses to take on as you’re journeying across the Lands Between. Here’s how to activate the Great Rune of the Unborn in Elden Ring.
Activating the Great Rune of the Unborn in Elden Ring
All of the major story bosses in Elden Ring will drop a Great Rune, most of which need to be activated at the Divine Tower in their respective regions. Upon defeating Rennala, you’ll get the Great Rune of the Unborn. However, unlike Godrick’s Rune, this one works a bit differently.
The Great Rune of the Unborn will already be activated once you receive it, which means that you don’t need to do anything with it to unlock its power. There is a Divine Tower in Liurnia of the Lakes, but that area is a dungeon in and of itself, and has nothing to do with activating the Great Rune you just got your hands on.
Instead, what it does is unlock the ability for you to respec your character entirely when you’re speaking with Rennala at the Grand Library of Raya Lucaria. Once you have a Larval Tear and the Great Rune of the Unborn in your possession, you’ll be able to respec your character and completely redo your build. You can even head back to the Roundtable Hold and speak with Enia to purchase new boss weapons and items after this point.
That’s all you need to know about how to activate the Great Rune of the Unborn in Elden Ring. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
