Elden Ring: How to Crouch & Sneak Past Enemies

While you’re going to have to face some of Elden Ring’s enemies head-on if you want to progress through the main story, a lot of the open-world enemies can be avoided in their first instance if you give them a wide berth and stick to the shadows… or long grass. In this guide, we’ll be running you through how to crouch and sneak in Elden Ring, so you can get past enemies and return to them when you’re more powerful later on.

Crouching & Sneaking in Elden Ring

To crouch, simply press L3 at any time. After doing this, you’ll move around the world a little bit slower, but you’ll also be more difficult to spot by enemies.

You can make yourself even more difficult to spot, and sneak around enemies in Elden Ring by moving through tall grass whenever you see it in the open world. It’s very easy to spot, and can often be found close to where particularly powerful enemies can be found patrolling in the open-world.

Also, remember, if you’re spotted when you’re trying to crouch, just absolutely leg it. Some of the open-world bosses have attacks that’ll make light work of your health bar, and the last thing you want to do is use all of your Sacred Flask charges from a failed attempt at sneaking, especially if you’re nowhere near to a Site of Grace to recharge it.

That’s everything you need to know on how to crouch and sneak in Elden Ring. For more tips, tricks and guides on FromSoftware’s latest epic RPG, head over to our wiki or see more of our coverage on the game below.
