  1. Whenever you see shiny rocks or trees with berries in them, press X to swap from your item bar to your Pokemon bar.

  2. Hold ZR to take aim at the tree or rock and then release the button.

    Whatever Pokemon you have equipped will come out and gather items for you.

  3. You can also gather some items on the ground by simply pressing A.

    Items like Medicinal Leeks can be picked up by your character by simply interacting with them.
