Getting Gengar in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Gengar is one of the more iconic Pokemon in the series, having been around since the gen 1 days. It makes an appearance in Pokemon Legends Arceus as well, and if you’re familiar with how its evolution works from the previous games, you should already have an idea of how to get it in this one.

  1. First, get a Gastly.

First things first, you’ll need to catch a Gastly or a Haunter. Both can be found in the Crimson Mirelands, which is the second zone you’ll unlock in the game. They’re a fairly common spawn, though you’ll need to explore the zone during the nighttime to encounter them.

  2. Level up Gastly to level 25.

If you didn’t manage to find a Haunter, that’s fine. Get a Gastly on your team and level it up until it reaches level 25, where it’ll evolve into a Haunter.

  3. Trade it to a friend, and then take it back.

Finally, you’ll need to head back to Jubilife Village and interact with the NPC standing next to the Trading Post. Speak with her and select the option to trade Pokemon, and make sure to trade it with a friend you trust. Send your Haunter over to your friend, and once the trade is complete, it’ll automatically evolve into a Gengar. Have your friend trade it back to you, and you’re all good to go.

And that’s basically it. Getting a Haunter or Gastly is easy enough once you get to the Crimson Mirelands, you just need to have a friend who’s available and ready to trade with you to get it to evolve into Gengar.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Gengar in Pokemon Legends Arceus. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
