Open-World 3D Sonic Game, Sonic Frontiers, Formally Revealed at TGA 2021

Ever since the new 3D Sonic was teased back in May, rumors, leaks, and speculation have swirled around that the game would be open-world. At The Game Awards 2021, that speculation has appeared to be confirmed. Sonic Frontiers, the next 3D Sonic will take place in an open-world area known as the Starfall Islands.

The trailer (below) has serious TLOZ: Breath of the Wild vibes going on. But these days, what open-world games aren’t at least a little inspired by Breath of the Wild. Not many I’d wager.

It’s an open-world Sonic game, what could possibly go wrong? Am I right everyone? Absolutely no reason to be worried about it whatsoever. We are definitely not in the hope and change phase of the Sonic Cycle.

Sarcasm aside, maybe this will be the 3D Sonic game that will finally be the blue blur’s triumphant return. Wait, I’m doing it, aren’t I?

Here’s what we know about the game so far via Sonic Frontier’s official trailer description. It’s not much so give it a read and check out the trailer for yourself which is an extended and enhanced version of the teaser from back in May.
