Preparations

Before you go ahead and press the button to stop the mining drill, have a look around you. At the very end of the corridor (to your left if you’re facing away from the button), you’ll find an RPG next to a collectible. Pick this up as it can make light work of Bassus’ health bar.

Right next to the button, you’ll also find a weapons rack filled with sticky grenades and a Pulse Carbine. Pick up both of these, as they’ll come in very handy shortly.

Finally, you can pick up an HMG from one of the turrets on the ground surrounding the dig site where you’ve just been. Bring one up with you if you’re having a ton of problems.

Beating Bassus in Halo Infinite

The biggest challenge with taking on Bassus is the fact he’ll charge at you almost constantly, and his Gravity Hammer has a big area of effect, regardless of whether it lands a direct hit on you. This means you’re going to take a lot of damage if you’re in the general direction he swings it.

To counter this, use your Grapple Hook on the ceiling or on anything behind Bassus when he’s coming towards you. This will see you swing out of the way of his damage and give you some time to pepper him with shots.

Using your Pulse Carbine, you should be able to deplete Bassus’ shields almost immediately. Once these are done, use your SPNKr rocket launcher to deal massive damage, and land some Sticky Grenades on his to top things off.

It’s important to get a few shots in, and then use your Grapple Hook again to avoid taking damage. Don’t leave it too late to grapple away. If you do, you’ll likely die and have to start over.

As long as you keep on the move and use the Pulse Carbine to quickly deplete his shields Bassus shouldn’t cause you too many problems.
