Fans have been asking for it for a while now, and it’s finally happened: Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have just been released for the Nintendo Switch, offering both longtime fans and newcomers to jump into the Sinnoh Region with a full graphical overhaul and some quality-of-life improvements. There are tons of Pokemon to catch, though there are a handful that might be a bit trickier to evolve. Here’s how to evolve Combee into Vespiquen in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Evolving Combee into Vespiquen in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Combee is a Bug and Flying-type Pokemon that you can catch in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and it can evolve into the terrifying queen bee Vespiquen if you play your cards right. However, you can’t just catch any ol’ Combee and expect it to evolve after reaching a certain level.
To get Vespiquen, you first need to capture a female Combee out in the wild. The male Combees cannot evolve, so don’t bother trying to level them up. You can check the gender symbol next to the Pokemon’s name in the top right corner when you encounter in the wild, so you’ll be able to tell if you have a male or female.
Once you have a female Combee, all you have to do is level it up to level 21, and it’ll automatically evolve into Vespiquen. This should be fairly easy to do, especially since you’ll get the EXP Share function right at the very start of the game, allowing you to level up your entire party at the same time without needing to swap them into battle.
Getting Combee in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
If you’re having trouble catching Combee, trying slathering some honey on the trees in Eternia Forest to increase your chances. You can also use the Explorer’s Kit to head into the Grand Underground, and you should have an easier time finding it in grassy areas.
