Getting Riolu in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Riolu is given to the player as part of the story in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Specifically, players will be given an egg by Riley when they travel to Iron Island. When you receive the egg, simply keep it in your Pokemon Party and walk around a lot.

Steps cause the egg to hatch, and when a certain amount has been reached, the egg given to you on Iron Island will hatch and you’ll have a Riolu.

Evolving Riolu into Lucario in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

To evolve Riolu into Lucario, you’ll need to ensure it has high friendship and level it up during the Daytime.

Checking Friendship Levels

You can check the Friendship level of your Riolu by using your Poketch (Press R). Look for the screen with all your Pokemon moving around it and then move the cursor over Riolu.

Press and hold A with your cursor over Riolu. Hearts should now appear, and the more of them, the higher your friendship. We recommend aiming for at least 2 hearts.

To increase Friendship levels with Riolu, do any of the following things:

  • Feed it Poffins – Whichever type it likes most, check its Summary to find out.
