How to Catch & Evolve Mantyke into Mantine in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

evolve mantyke into mantine pokemon brilliant diamond and shining pearl

One of the more unusual evolutions in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is the one that sees Mantyke evolve into Mantine. That’s because it isn’t a case of simply giving it an evolution stone or trading it with a friend, but instead requires you to have a completely different Pokemon in your party altogether. In this guide, we’ll explain how to catch Mantyke, and then evolve it into Mantine in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.

Catching Mantyke

Mantyke can be caught in both Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but will only ever be seen surfing on water, rather than being a Pokemon you catch by fishing with a rod.

Mantyke can be found in the following locations:

  • Route 223
  • Sunyshore City

It can also be caught in the following locations in the Grand Underground once players have obtained TM99 Waterfall:

  • Fountainspring Cave
  • Riverbank Cave
  • Spacious Cave
  • Still-Water Cavern

Evolving Mantyke into Mantine in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

To evolve Mantyke into Mantine you must level it up while you have a Remoraid in your party.

Fortunately, both Mantyke and Remoraid can be caught in a few of the same locations (Route 223 and Sunyshore City) meaning you won’t have to fly around the map to catch them both.

Catching Remoraid

Remoraid is not a version exclusive Pokemon and so can be caught with a Good Rod in both Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in the following locations:

  • Pastoria City
  • Pokemon League
  • Route 213
  • Route 222
  • Route 223
  • Route 224
  • Route 230
  • Sunyshore City
  • Victory Road

Make sure to pack plenty of Great and Ultra Balls to make catching Remoraid even easier.
