During today’s Nintendo Direct online showcase, the Japanese publisher pulled back the curtain on its eagerly anticipated multiplayer shooter, Splatoon 3. Go ahead and feast your eyes on said footage down below:
As you can see, the beloved third-person paint-’em-up is shaping up well and it looks super wild from this video. It appears that the return of the mammals – or the ‘mammalians’ – will play a key role in the mysterious upcoming shooter.
Interestingly, during the conference, a ‘Squid Researcher’ described how the game takes place in ‘Splatsville’, which is known “as the city of Chaos,” and “is a place long inhabited by sea creatures such as squids and octopuses.”
While we got a glimpse of some of the new maps and the new weaponry, it looks like this will be a fairly traditional continuation of 2017’s Splatoon 2, which is no bad thing.
Splatoon 3 is scheduled to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022, with more updates on the way.
