The Catch is a new polearm that’s just been added to Genshin Impact, and the best part is, all players can get it for free without having to roll wishes on the weapons banner.

Getting the Catch in Genshin Impact

First, you’ll need to have unlocked the Serenitea Pot and the Inazuma region, then talk to Katheryne at Mondstadt, who will send you on the quest to unlock the fishing mini-game.

This is a pretty straightforward introductory quest, so just follow the markers and talk to the NPCs to unlock the rod and bait. Once you’ve learned the basics of how to fish, head to Byakko Plains and speak with the Fishing Association NPC near the water.

You can exchange the following fish for the Catch from this NPC:

  • 6 Raimei Angelfish
  • 20 Golden Koi
  • 20 Rusty Koi

Once you have them, turn in the fish and you’ll be able to purchase the Catch.

Weapon Skills and Ascension Materials

Of course, just getting the weapon itself isn’t enough in Genshin Impact. You’ll also need to upgrade it with the required materials. Listed below are all of the ascension materials used for the Catch:

  • Mask of the Wicked Lieutenant
  • Chaos Gear
  • Spectral Husk
  • Mask of the Tiger’s Bite
  • Chaos Axis
  • Spectral Heart
  • Mask of the One-Horned
  • Mask of the Kijin
  • Chaos Oculus
  • Spectral Nucleus

Weapon Skill (Shanty): Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 16% and Elemental Burst crit rate by 6%.
