FIFA 22’s Icons are the very best cards you can get in Ultimate Team before the onslaught of special cards release throughout the year. In this guide, you’ll find information on how to get Icons in FIFA 22, as well as a full FIFA 21 Icon cards list so you know what players you have a chance of getting.
Icon cards are retired players that were once legends of the game. Whether it’s King Eric Cantona the lethal striker, or Russian goalkeeper legend Lev Yashin, Icons are a quick and easy way to bolster your Ultimate Team, and even have some handy chemistry boons to boot.
Essentially, you don’t have to worry about matching nationality or league with the rest of your team. An Icon will automatically get yellow chem links with any surrounding players just because they’re an Icon. Match up their nationality with surrounding players and those will become green links.
Getting Icons in FIFA 22
There are three ways to get Icons in FIFA 22:
- Opening Packs
- Completing Icon Swap SBCs
- Buy One from the Transfer Market
The first is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is keep on opening packs and cross your fingers that you’ll find an Icon inside. That being said, the percentage probability of getting an Icon from opening a pack is below 1%.
Second is the more likely way you’ll get yourself an Icon. If EA continues its trend of doing Icon Swap SBCs throughout the year in FIFA 22 as it has in previous games, players will be able to unlock Icon Swap cards by completing objectives, and then exchange these for an Icon in an SBC. The objectives are always pretty tricky and will no doubt require you to rework your team, so just keep this in mind.
Finally, you can just buy an Icon from the Transfer Market. Again, though, you’ll need to make sure you’ve got plenty of Coins to be able to buy one.
The cheapest icon on Xbox One at the time of writing this is the 85-rated Deco at 160,000 Coins. Yep, best get saving!
