Psychonauts 2: Is There New Game Plus? Answered

psychonauts 2 new game plus

With the release of Psychonauts 2, Double Fine has finally released a sequel to its cult-classic title from 2005. The sequel almost immediately continues the adventures of Raz from the first game and the VR title Rhombus of Ruin released in 2017, and brings more of the witty writing and brain-based platforming the series is known for. Of course, not everything can last forever and as such, some players may be wondering if there is a Psychonauts 2 New Game Plus mode to jump into once they roll the credits.

What Is New Game +?

New Game Plus is a fairly common feature in major AAA titles, particularly in RPGs. The feature allows players to retain certain items and upgrades for their character, while starting the game from the beginning with tougher enemies.

As such, the gameplay is generally a little more challenging as you’ll need to use your skills and abilities to take down tougher enemies, but your arsenal feels suitably leveled up and ready to take on the task.

Is There New Game Plus in Psychonauts 2?

Unfortunately, no, Psychonauts 2 does not have a new game plus mode.

However, just because you’ve reached the credits, doesn’t mean you’re locked out of your saved game forever. After beating the game, you’ll be able to explore the world again, revisiting areas that were previously blocked off or otherwise inaccessible, allowing you to tick off any achievements or trophies you’ve yet to unlock.

That also means you can go back and grab any collectibles or complete side quests you might have missed the first time. Once you’ve ticked off all of these optional extras, you’ll then have 100% completed Psychonauts 2, and you’ll only be able to continue playing by starting a new save altogether.

That’s everything you need to know regarding Psychonauts 2 new game plus. For more tips, tricks and guides, search for Twinfinite, or see more of our coverage on the game below.
