New Weapon: Glaives
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen will add a brand new, never before seen weapon type — the first since bows were added in Forsaken. Glaives in Destiny 2 will be spear-like melee weapons with a couple of twists.
For starters, they are used in first-person, unlike the third-person view that is seen when using Swords. They also occupy the energy slot instead of the power slot, meaning it should be easier to use them more frequently in combat.
Glaives have their own set of combos that will allow you to strike an enemy up close multiple times, but what makes them stand out is that they can also fire an energy blast that can hit enemies at mid-range. It’s not confirmed exactly how it works, but if we had to take a guess, it’ll like have a system similar to how sword special moves work. Or maybe not! Maybe you can fire off your Glaive as a mid-range weapon all you want, we’ll have to wait and see.
What we do know, is how you’ll get your first Glaive.
Crafting
Announced alongside the Glave is a new crafting system, fulfilling a request from Guardians that has existed from Destiny 1. While details are extremely scarce at the moment on how the crafting system in Destiny 2 will actually work, we do have the below brief description via Bungie and the above photo to speculate about.
Master the new crafting system and create custom weaponry with unique combinations of mods, shaders, and advanced stat pools. When fighting a god, leave nothing on the table.

We do know from the live stream that it will utilize some kind of EXP system where you use your gun in combat. It will level up and that will allow you to advance and upgrade it in some shape, way, or form. Whether or not you can truly create your ultimate god roll is still up in the air.
New Destination: Savathun’s Throne World
Savathun’s Throne World, not Old Chicago like some fans have speculated, will be the primary destination of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen. To be fair, though, it does share a lot of swampy characteristics.
The general sense that we’ve gotten from what we’ve seen of Savathun’s Throne World from the trailers and media is that it is a combination of swamp-like features and aesthetics that would fit in with the Scarlet Keep. You know, typical Hive interior and exterior decoration.
New Enemies: The Lucent Brood
Perhaps the biggest shock of The Witch Queen reveal was the knowledge that Savathun would not only gain some level of control over the Light (we heard rumors of that already), but that the Savathun would go so far as to actually share the power with her fellow Hive infantry.
Yes, certain Hive found in Savathun’s Throne World will actually be able to wield the power of the Light against us and will have Void, Solar, and Arc Guardian-like abilities. This group of enemies will be known as the Lucent Brood and in combat, we’ll need to physically destroy their Ghost otherwise, presumably, they will come back from the dead just like us.
It’s a shocking turn of events to be sure and it’ll be interesting to see how it forces us to mix up our approach against the Hive in combat — especially in difficult encounters like potential GM Nightfall and the raid.
New Activity: Conflict Eternal
This nugget of info was dropped on The Witch Queen’s official website via Bungie. There will be a new six-person activity that seems to be called Conflict Eternal. Very little is known about it other than this screenshot shared above and a description shared by Bungie.
A new six-player matchmade activity at the heart of the ongoing struggle for the Throne World. The balance must be maintained.

At the time of this writing, it’s unclear if this is something permanent like Altars of Sorrow, or if it will be more like a seasonal activity.
One New Raid & Two New Dungeons
Finally, of course, there will be a new raid added in The Witch Queen. Like most things about the next Destiny 2 expansion, it’s still shrouded in a lot of mystery. Here’s what we do know so far from Bungie.
It will take place “among the swamps” of Savathun’s Throne World and we will be breaching a sunken pyramid ship to confront an “ancient danger.”
That’s about it, unfortunately. It’s not surprising to know just about nothing, though, since that’s usually the way Bungie keeps raids all the way until their launch.
We do know that those who purchase the deluxe edition (aka the edition with paid seasons included) will also be able to jump into two new dungeons, but even less is known about that content at this time since they will likely release sometime after the raid.
