If you’re unclear on whether or not Scarlet Nexus has co-op multiplayer, rest assured that you’re not alone. Given the fact that there are multiple protagonist characters on top of a wide array of party members, it isn’t the biggest stretch to think there’s some sort of multiplayer component for you to enjoy alongside your friends.
That’s why we’ve put together this guide on the subject. Read on to find out whether you’ll be able to dive into this new title with some pals or if you’ll need to go it alone.
Is There Co-Op Multiplayer in Scarlet Nexus? Answered
At this time, there isn’t any co-op multiplayer in Scarlet Nexus.
Instead, you’re only able to play the game via single-player. Not only that, but you can only fully control the player characters Yuito Sumeragi or Kasane Randall. Every other character who you gain as a party member can only be given commands to trigger special attacks and powers, and otherwise can’t be directly manipulated.
It’s a bit of a bummer, but also not the biggest surprise given the promotional material shown of the game. In every trailer and gameplay video shown up to the game’s release, it was always made clear that only one character was being directly controlled at any given moment.
Will Co-Op Ever Be Added Into the Game?
As for whether or not co-op multiplayer might be added into Scarlet Nexus at a later point, the chances are fairly slim.
The game has definitely been designed as a single player experience, which means tacking on a multiplayer component would require drastic redesigns to the base design framework. This would require a substantial amount of development time, which could be costly for Bandai Namco Entertainment to implement.
There’s still a chance if a substantial amount of the game’s player base requests it, but for now it’s safe to say you shouldn’t hold your breath waiting for it.
