Keep on Movin’

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Tips and Tricks

This one might sound a bit simple, but when we say keep moving, we really do mean keep moving. Rather than just strafing from side to side a little bit, be sure to jump around and change your positioning whenever possible. Make sure you’re really keeping your enemies moving and constantly missing their hits.

The more you move, the more difficult it is for enemies to deal damage to you. Plus, it means you can pick up any ammo and other bits that drop from enemies as you’re going. Moving also allows you to group enemies together, which works very nicely in conjunction with a weapon that can deal damage in a large area.

Switch Up Your Weapons Often

Ratchet & Clank has always been about wacky weaponry and gadgets, and Rift Apart is no different.

There are a ton of great weapons to make use of, and experimenting with them all is part of the fun of the adventure. Not only is it nice to vary things up in your gameplay, but it also makes sense to switch up your weapons regularly during combat.

This not only means you don’t have to worry about running out of ammo as much, but you can also use particular weapons and their strengths to take care of enemies even faster.

Don’t Worry About Bolts

You’re gonna get a ton of bolts on your adventure in Rift Apart, so don’t worry too much about collecting each and every last one that drops from an enemy or a crate you’ve destroyed.

Bolts can be found pretty much everywhere on planets, and can even be farmed in the Arena areas too. You’ll never need to worry about collecting them as you make your way through the story. If you’re ever in dire need of them, you can head to the Arena and grind them out.

Weaponry also doesn’t cost a ton of bolts either, or at least not an amount that you’ll struggle to accumulate throughout the duration of your time in Rift Apart.

In other words, don’t let your completionist side make you dwell on those few bolts you missed on the second planet. There are plenty more bolts in the sea.

Fight First, Collect Later

Everything that enemies or crates drop won’t just disappear, so don’t worry about hoovering it up as soon as it appears.

Instead, focus on clearing out any enemies in the area you’re in. Doing so will help you avoid taking unnecessary damage from being distracted by shiny bolts and ammo pick-ups, and that’s always a good thing.

It may sound a little obvious, but if you don’t know that bolts and ammo drops remain on the floor permanently after being dropped, you may stress trying to grab them all in the heat of battle. Now you know!

Wrench Is a Great Melee Attack

Ratchet and Rivet will be busy blasting their way through tons of baddies with an eclectic mix of weapons in Rift Apart, but that doesn’t mean you should discount the trusty ol’ wrench altogether.

The wrench is a great melee attack that can deal a large amount of damage in a single hit. As long as you’re comfortable getting up close and personal with enemies, we’d recommend using this when you’re out of ammo or just need to take out a few minor enemies quickly.

It also has a bunch of different attacks you can use. Pressing Square will swing the wrench, holding L2 and pressing Square will throw the wrench wherever your reticle is pointed, and jumping and pressing square will cause you to perform a slam melee attack.

That last one doesn’t use the wrench, but who doesn’t love a good ol’ ground pound?
