Today Microsoft released another major update for Microsoft Flight Simulator, focusing on improving its world even further.

The update, aptly dubbed World Update V or 1.17.3.0 focuses on improving the Nordic countries of Europe in the simulator, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, & Sweden.

Among its large range of content, it includes five new hand-crafted airports, EKRN Bornholm Airport, BIIS Ísafjörður Airport, ENSB Svalbard Airport, ESSA Stockholm Arlanda Airport, and EFVA Vaasa Airport.

You can check out a trailer below.

As usual, the download is slightly convoluted. First of all, you need to grab a general update from the Windows Store or the Steam Client, weighing 1.03 gigabytes. The second step is to launch the simulator, which will prompt to download another 5.25 gigabytes patch. At that point, you’re not done, as you need to go to the marketplace to purchase (for free) and download another package (it’s easy to find by selecting free content) that weighs 3.53 gigabytes.

At that point you’re done. While you wait for all the downloads to be done, you can read the full patch notes of the update here.

Speaking of additional content, do keep in mind that we have a spiffy giveaway going on that can let you win one of 10 add-ons from Orbx’s lineup. You can find all the details here, but leaving a pertinent comment at the bottom of this post will serve as a valid entry.

Recently, we published our massive interview with head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann, who provided a lot of new info about the present and future of the sim. A few weeks ago, we also received lots of new details about upcoming content from Microsoft itself including a new aircraft and the next world update focused on Nordic countries.
