E3 is back, and that means we can expect a deluge of game announcements from all of the gaming industry’s biggest players. This includes publishing juggernaut EA. And while their official event may not fall into the initial E3 week, that doesn’t mean they won’t have a ton to reveal. That’s why we’re here to help you anticipate what’s up their sleeve with a list of our EA Play E3 2021 predictions.
FIFA Updates and Next Installment Reveal
EA Play E3 2021 Predictions
FIFA continues to be one of EA’s best-selling IPs by a large margin, so it’s guaranteed that we’ll see the franchise in some shape or form during their E3 event.
The smart money says we’ll get some updates on improvements and content coming to FIFA 21. Though the reception of the game has been mixed since its release, it remains the most modern installment in the series. EA isn’t likely to abandon it entirely just yet, and will likely want to make sure that as many people as possible buy copies before the next iteration releases.
With that said, it’s not outside of the realm of possibility that we’ll catch a glimpse of the next entry in the series. Though it likely won’t be substantial, we can still expect a teaser trailer for the game at the most, or a reveal for a proper announcement timeframe at the least.
New Madden and NCAA Football Reveal Trailers
EA Play E3 2021 Predictions
The next year looks to be a busy one for American football games, and it’d be shocking if EA wasn’t poised to get the hype train rolling with some teases and reveals.
The upcoming NCAA Football title, in particular, is assured to get some love given that it’ll be the first title released for the series in years. At a bare minimum, there’ll be a general highlight trailer. Given the warm reception and excitement the game received upon its announcement though, it’s extremely possible that we’ll also see a gameplay reveal or a more extensive dive into its gameplay.
However, this isn’t to say that the Madden franchise won’t receive any love. Based on past E3 press conferences, it’s highly likely that EA will use the event to unveil Madden 22, either with a new trailer, some gameplay footage, or both.
Battlefield 6 Showcase With Trailer and Gameplay
EA Play E3 2021 Predictions
Unless EA has some huge surprises in store for fans of its games, Battlefield 6 is easily the publisher’s biggest title going into their press event.
Having already been teased via social media in recent weeks – and with a proper reveal event slated for June 9 – the game is clearly one which EA is ready to show off in earnest. To that end, they’ll likely want to put on a full-court press of advertising and hype up fans of the franchise as much as possible with their E3 presence.
Granted, we’ll already be getting a fair bit of info via the reveal event. This means the EA Play event will likely offer supplementary teasers and info, ranging from a new trailer to some gameplay footage that hasn’t been seen yet.
Dragon Age 4 Trailer
EA Play E3 2021 Predictions
This prediction comes with a big ol’ asterisk, but we are very likely going to see a trailer for Dragon Age 4 at the next EA Play.
It has been a few years since the next installment in the Dragon Age franchise was revealed, and one would hope BioWare has been able to make some headway in building it up toward a build that can be teased. The game is also one of the more hotly anticipated sequels in EA’s catalog, so it’d make sense to use it to elevate the goodwill surrounding the event.
However, it’s worth noting that it is possible we’ll receive another concept art trailer or a cinematic teaser as opposed to actual gameplay. BioWare’s development cycles haven’t exactly been smooth sailing in recent memory. If they’re struggling with Dragon Age 4 the way they did with Anthem, then we aren’t likely to see anything resembling footage of the game in motion until they’re good and ready.
Mass Effect 4 Status Update
EA Play E3 2021 Predictions
This brings us to a point that’s worth firmly noting: We probably won’t see any gameplay reveals for the next entry in the Mass Effect franchise.
While the teaser trailer from last year had people properly hyped – and the recent release of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition has rekindled interest in the series – the chances of seeing a new trailer or gameplay footage for the title are slim. BioWare has likely had its hands full developing Dragon Age 4, and as such, won’t have much to show for the latest installment in their spacefaring epic.
With that said, a general status update on the title is far more likely. We’ll probably get a general report on how the game is doing, and receive a statement on whether or not we’ll hear anything new about the title anytime soon.
Star Wars Title Reveals
EA Play E3 2021 Predictions
While Ubisoft is confirmed to have a Star Wars game in the works, EA is still the most likely source of new Star Wars game announcements during this year’s E3.
The most probable reveals would be new installments in their existing franchises; those being Jedi: Fallen Order and Battlefront. Either franchise is due for a new entry, and the chances of them being unveiled as current-gen console titles are extremely high.
As for how they’ll be revealed, it’s anyone’s guess. The original Jedi: Fallen Order was first teased with a general statement from a developer, so it’s not impossible that the same would be done with its sequel. Battlefront, meanwhile, could be shown off with everything from a lengthy gameplay dissection to a brief teaser trailer. It all comes down to how far along these new titles are, and how prepared EA is to show them off.
EA Originals Showcase
EA Play E3 2021 Predictions
This year’s EA Play event could very well be dominated by their EA Originals showcase, though it may seem strange to say so given that EA is a AAA development company.
The recent success of titles like It Takes Two and Knockout City has lent a lot of weight to the potential carried by smaller titles in EA’s catalog. They’ve established themselves as more than a cash-grabbing attempt to claim different parts of the gaming market, and people are excited to see what else is currently coming down the tube.
As such, we may see a renewed focus on this division of EA’s roster of games. Gameplay deep-dives, trailers, and new announcements are all on the table. And at least some of them are sure to be given a firm push to succeed.
Any Skate 4 News
EA Play E3 2021 Predictions
Skate 4 is currently in an interesting position, as are the chances of seeing something related to it during E3.
Having been officially announced, the game is likely to receive some sort of trailer or gameplay reel sometime soon. However, EA has also been mum on its progress ever since it was announced, meaning it may still need some time before it receives any more trailers or updates.
Given the fervent fanbase surrounding the series, though, it’d be a wasted opportunity not to capitalize on its popularity at all. As such, there’s a decent chance we’ll get a general update on its progress at the event.
