After years of fans asking for it, the time has finally come. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is releasing on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on May 14, and will see the entire trilogy — including all DLC — into the 4K age. If you’re looking to get suitably prepared, you’ll likely want to know the preload and release times as well as the Mass Effect Legendary Edition file sizes for the game, and that’s what we’ve got for you here.
How to Preload
If you purchase Mass Effect Legendary Edition digitally, you’ll be able to download it ahead of time on consoles. Here’s a list of preload times at a glance below:
- Xbox One: Preload Available Now
- PS4: May 12, 2021
- PC: TBC
Currently, the only platform where players can begin preloading the game is on Xbox. To do this, you’ll need to buy the Mass Effect Legendary Edition directly from the Xbox Store.
PlayStation preloading goes live on May 12 — a couple days before the game’s official launch on May 14 — while it remains to be seen whether preload will be available for those downloading the game on PC.
As soon as we have any further information regarding times and dates for preloading on PlayStation and PC, we’ll update this post and let you know.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition Release Time
In terms of the exact time your preload of Mass Effect Legendary Edition will unlock, the release time is set for midnight your local time on May 14.
On PC, this may be later in the day, but as soon as we’ve got concrete information on this, we’ll let you know.
File Download Size
- Xbox One: 84.3 GB (+ Day-One Update)
- PS4: 80 GB (US), 101 GB (EU)
- PC: 120 GB Minimum Hard Drive Space Required
Update 05/07/21: PlayStation Game Size has now revealed the file size on PS4 for both US and EU regions and we’ve included these above.
We currently only know of the Xbox One file size, having purchased it from the Xbox Store ourselves. As shown in the image below, it currently weighs in at 84.3 GB.
In addition to the file sizes listed above, we also know there will be a Day One patch that will weigh in at around 11.7 GB on PlayStation, and likely similar on Xbox and PC. While this won’t necessarily increase the file size from those listed above, it could cause them to differ slightly.
We’ll update the Mass Effect Legendary Edition file sizes listed above should they change following the release of the day one patch.
That’s everything you need to know on Mass Effect Legendary Edition preload times and file sizes. Be sure to check back soon for more guides and features coverage as we dive deep into the trilogy.
