Mass Effect 2: Miranda or Jack, Which Should You Pick?

Miranda or Jack Mass Effect 2

Of all of the titles in the trilogy, Mass Effect 2 easily has the most intricate relationship-building system, allowing you to build bonds between characters to the point where they are completely loyal to Shepard. Since this system is so complex, though, it makes sense that it tries to throw some monkey-wrenches into your story to test that loyalty. Here is everything you should know about whether to pick Miranda or Jack in Mass Effect 2.

It doesn’t take long into Mass Effect 2 to realize that Miranda and Jack are two opposite sides of the same coin. While each may be badass and stubborn biotics, Miranda works for Cerberus, making her enemy number one for Jack.

Loyalty Missions Complete

Due to this, the two will actually clash when you finish both of their loyalty missions. During this confrontation, Shepard has to pick a side. If their Paragon or Renegade is high enough, indicated by the ability to choose either the blue or red option, they’ll be able to resolve things peacefully with a neutral stance.

The dialogue options make it pretty clear which side you’re going to pick, as well as if the neutral options we mentioned above are available to you. Alongside this, you’ll know if you managed to resolve it if neither one of them is visibly angry after speaking with them.

If one of them is, then you’ll need to end up speaking to whoever is upset in their quarters. You’ll still have the chance to keep both loyal when speaking with whoever you’ve upset, as the Paragon and Renegade check is much easier here.

There is definitely a chance you still lose one of their loyalties, though. So if you only have the option to pick one, who should you choose?

Pick Miranda or Jack in Mass Effect 2?

If you can’t manage to end the confrontation with keeping both of their loyalties intact, then you should probably side with Jack. Not only does her cause make more sense, as Cerberus was the one who experimented on her, but she is also way more vulnerable during the final mission than Miranda is.

Alongside being able to die once you reach the base, Jack can actually die on the ship as well if Shepard doesn’t have her loyalty. Miranda will also be more vulnerable at the base, but you just need to make sure not to put her in any of the leadership roles in order to keep her safe if she isn’t loyal.

That is everything you should know about whether to pick Miranda or Jack in Mass Effect 2. For more tips, tricks, and FAQs answered, be sure to check out our Mass Effect LE wiki guide for more helpful info.
