While there’s plenty about Biomutant that’s unusual, many of the basic systems in the game will be familiar to players who have played open-world RPGs over the years, including its progression mechanics. That said, there’s a lot to get your head around, and so for those who aren’t sure, we’ve put together a quick guide on how to get upgrade points and what they’re used for in Biomutant.
How to Get Upgrade Points & What They’re Used For in Biomutant
Upgrade points are gained from leveling up your character, which will occur organically as you defeat enemies in combat and generally progress through the game. Once you’ve got some to spend, they can then be put towards enhancing your character’s Wung Fu, as well as Perks — both general perks and those specific to whichever character build you have gone for (Psi-Freak, in Twinfinite’s case).
You will likely max out the number of Upgrade Points you can spend on Wung Fu fairly quickly, but you’ll be upgrading Perks right the way through the game.
Perks offer new buffs such as increasing loot chance by 10%, increasing the ranged weapon shots fired by 25% before needing to be reloaded, etc.
Upgrade points are also used for unlocking more Wung-Fu weapon mastery techniques. These weapon mastery techniques can be found in the Wung-Fu section of the character menu, and open up new button combo attacks for you to use. For example, finishing your melee chain by fan-firing your gun can be unlocked with the Crane Dance, and then requires you to use the input sequence B, X, RT to pull off in combat.
That does it for how to get upgrade points and what they’re used for in Biomutant. For more useful tips and tricks for the game, be sure to check out Twinfinite’s guide wiki. Otherwise, you should see some related content below that may prove helpful.
