Biomutant: How to Use Special Attacks

special attacks in Biomutant

Biomutant’s martial-arts combat system is incredibly satisfying to use, but only once you get the hang of memorizing and inputting combinations. After you’ve mastered the basics you can start to chain together melee and ranged combos, finishing with a Special Attack. Not only do these special attacks boost the total damage but they also build your Wung-Fu state so that you’re then able to unleash the most powerful attacks in the game. Here’s how to use Special Attacks in Biomutant.

After you have played through the opening hours of the game and unlocked the Wung-Fu menu under the Character menu, you will have access to Special Attacks. There are both close combat (melee) and ranged special attacks — each weapon has its own ranged Special Attack.

The trick to pulling them off is to first try and memorize several basic melee combos, then add in a Special Attack at the end. Like all the combos in the game, each special attack also has its own input sequence you need to learn, but thankfully when you’re close to pulling one off in combat a button input appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen with the name of the Special Attack. This definitely makes it a little easier to remember, and if you happen to have got a little button-mashy then you can just lean on the button prompt to help you finish off a move and reset.

As mentioned in the intro above, learning how to use Special Attacks is pretty important because each successful one you land will build your Super Wung Fu state. When you have built that gauge enough, you’ll enter Wung-Fu state and have access to even more powerful attacks (pictured above).

It’s worth noting that not all Special Attacks build Wung-Fu state, so make sure you’ve checked that whatever one you’re learning does in fact count toward it if that’s your goal. As you can see in the image above, Cursed Beaver does build Super Wung Fu.
