How to Fish

Just as a reminder, let’s quickly break down how fishing works in Nier Replicant.

You can fish from several different spots in the game, but only once you’ve acquired the fishing rod from the old man down by the Seafront. It’s part of the main story, so you surely won’t have missed it if you’re looking for a Blowfish.

With your road in hand, simply press circle to cast and then once again to hook it when you notice the rod starting to bend. You’ll need to pull the road in the opposite direction to the fish in order to whittle down its HP. Eventually, after it reaches zero, you’ll be able to hook it in and catch it.

How to Get Blowfish in Nier Replicant

You don’t technically need bait to catch fish in Nier Replicant, but you will need it to catch a Blowfish. Specifically, with the Lugworm bait applied to your rod. You will also need to visit a certain location: the beach just to the right of the old fisherman (as opposed to casting off from the pier where he is standing).

In our experience, Blowfish have about a 50 percent chance of showing up instead of Sardines. They also have more health, so expect a bit more of a fish when attempting to reel one in.
